Call to Artists and Model Makers for Group Show on 'BOATS' in September

September's Artist Showing is an open group show devoted to
BOATS!

Open to artists of all skill levels!

Old, new, ancient, sporting, working, purely pleasure, non-working, sunk, sailing. Canoes, ocean liners, dingies, rafts, fishing boats....you get the idea!

Guidelines:  Work will need to be framed, or on a cradled box to hang on our fish line hanging system.

We have table and pedestal space for models brought in, and 20-30 wall spaces for paintings, drawings, etchings, mosaic, collage, etc.

1. All work must be handmade, no digital works.
2. One or two pieces per artist.
3. Gallery commission is 30%, and work under $150 is suggested, but we won't       be picky if you have work you need to price higher.

Let us know if you'll be bringing one or two pieces so we can reserve a spot for you.  Email us at info@garibaldimuseum.org or call us at 503-322-8411 between 10 and 4, Thursday through Monday.

You will bring your art to hang on Thursday, Sept 1 from 10-2 PM.  Please make sure your contact info is attached to the back of your work.  We prefer to have printed labels with Title, Medium and size, Artist name and Price, approximately 3x4", but we can print your labels for you if you email us that information 5-7 days before the show, and the labels will be waiting for you when you bring in your work.

Work that isn't sold must be picked up on Friday Sept 30 before 4 PM.

Mike Loney's Reception and Show

Mike Loney’s reception was well attended, with 22 people making time in their busy schedule to see this highly respected and talented artist from Cloverdale, OR.  Mike’s love of art is evident in the close observation and intricate details of his art.  Mike, a self-taught artist, has been painting for over 30 years.  Mike’s art is hanging in many galleries around Oregon.

Mike and Margie Loney talk with guests at his June 1st reception

Visitors were coming and going for the whole 2 hours of the reception

There were several lovely prints for sale....

A guest book - and refreshments being checked out by one of many visitors to Mike's reception

One of Mike's gorgeous oil paintings

This is one of three paintings devoted to the late Tasha Tudor.
If you want to see which one won 'Best in Show' at the Oregon State Fair,
you'll just have to come to the Museum to see it!

Utterly charming watercolors....

The artist and his wife Margie are justifiably proud of hanging a great show!
Mike's work will be on the walls of our Community Room through June.
Come see it!

2014 Call for artists on the Northern Oregon Coast

Do you paint, draw, sculpt or make any kind of visually stimulating art?  Would you be interested in having a show at the Museum next year?  We're currently seeking  local artists (second home on the Oregon Coast or past resident  qualifies) to embellish the walls of our community room and provide exposure to our local talent in a quiet gallery atmosphere each month, and would love to see your work.

Do you know any other artists who would like to do a show?  Tell them you saw this or let us know who they are!

Submit at least 4 examples of your work in .jpg format to: Artist Call at GMM and request a copy of the Artist Contract.
